On the afternoon of March 30th, Mr. Zhang Chengyan, member of standing committee of Liaoning Pronvicial Committee of the CPC, and general-secretary of Dalian Municipal Committee of the CPC, together with Mr. Xiao Shengfeng, standing committee member and secretariat of Dalian Municipal Committee of the CPC, made a technical visit to DMU. Accompanied by Mr. Wang Zhaohe, general-secretary of Party Committee, DMU and Prof. Dr. Wang Zuwen, President of DMU, Mr. Zhang visited Navigation Dynamic Simulation and Control Lab and Robot Application Technology Lab, etc.
In his visit, Mr. Zhang spoke highly of DMU’s construction and development. He pointed out that DMU is a higher maritime institution with almost 100 years of history, and enjoys high reputation both home and abroad. DMU has educated and trained tons of talents for the country, and has provided excellent talents for economic construction and society development; especially in the construction for “Greater Dalian” and “A major Shipping Center of Northeast Asia”, DMU plays an important and characteristic role, and it has made great contribution to Dalian’s economic construction. What’s more, Dalian is proud to have such an excellent university. Mr. Zhang, on behalf of Dalian Municipal Committee of the CPC, stated his wishes for DMU. Firstly, DMU should make the most of its maritime discipline advantages, further strengthen technology, and continue to contribute to Dalian’s construction into a major shipping center of Northeast Asia. Secondly, DMU should put more effort on technology innovation and high-level talents’ education. So that it can provide more talents and intelligence support to the technology innovation system in Dalian’s development. The last but not least, DMU should carry on its fine cultures, and put into affect the idea of “Eight Honors & Eight Disgraces”, proposed by CPC General Secretary Hu Jintao.
