Memorandum of Cooperation between Svendborg International Maritime Academy, Denmark and DMU Signed

On the morning of November 8th, Mr. Jimmi J┆rgensen, Vice-President of Svendborg International Maritime Academy (SIMAC) and Mr. Kristen D. Nedergaard, Head of Dep. of Maritime Research, University of Southern Denmark (USD) visited DMU.

Vice-President Sun Yuqing had a meeting with the guests and extended his warmest welcome. Vice-President Sun briefly introduced DMU and its international vision regarding international cooperation and exchange. He also expressed DMU’s intention to establish cooperation partnership between the two guest institutions. The guests extended the gratitude for DMU’s hospitality and their intention to reach cooperation agreements with DMU.

Based on thorough discussion, on behalf of their respective institution, Vice-President Sun Yuqing and Vice-President Jimmi J┆rgensen signed the memorandum of cooperation and the agreement concerning faculty job-swap. The cooperation covers student exchange, administrators or faculty exchange, and visiting lecturers, etc. The two institutions will start the virtual cooperation from next year, and approximately 10-20 students will be chosen for student exchange program in addition to visiting lecturers exchange program.

        The guests took a campus tour in the afternoon and visited ship-handling simulators, engine room workshop and survival training center, etc. The guests were greatly impressed by the campus facilities. Thereafter, Mr. Kristen D. Nedergaard, Head of Dep. of Maritime Research, USD had a discussion with Prof. Lv Jing, Vice-Dean of Transportation Engineering and Logistics College on the matters concerning joint academic research programs.
